Trail to the Refuge Albert Ier (2,707 m) in the Mont Blanc massif. The first hut (to the right of the new building) was built by the Club Alpin Belge. It was inaugurated in the presence of the king on August 26, 1930.

King Albert I Memorial Foundation

The King Albert I Memorial Foundation was established in 1993 as a Swiss foundation in memory of the mountaineer and Belgian King Albert I (1875–1934).

Every two years, the foundation presents the Albert Mountain Award, consisting of a medal, certificate and cash prize, to individuals and institutions that have rendered outstanding services in any field related to the mountains of the world.
